Tour itinerary
Day 1 Lisbon (Portugal)
Once you have arrived at the airport in Lisbon, your holiday experience begins. Our local representatives will be there to meet you after customs and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day gives you the chance to start discovering everything that Portugal’s capital has to offer.
Day 2 Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon
Breakfast served at the hotel. A road trip awaits, with sites of royal residences and breathtaking villages along the way. Your destination is Cabo da Roca, Portugal’s westernmost point in Europe, as well as Sintra, an 18th century vacation spot for aristocrats. Admire the mysterious architecture of Quinta da Regaleira palace – this World Heritage Site offers a combination of Gothic, Renaissance and Manueline designs. Free time for lunch in Sintra before heading to Devil’s Mouth cave and Guincho Beach on a stroll through the quaint fishing town of Cascais. Afterwards take a detour to Estoril – this spa town was once home to many noble families during WWII as they evaded Nazi persecutions. As night falls upon Lisbon after your unforgettable day out, you will be left with free time in the city. (Breakfast)
Day 3 Lisbon – Alcobaça – Batalha – Nazaré – Óbidos – Lisbon
In and around Batalha
Starting your journey in Lisbon, your first stop is Alcobaça. Here you will find the Monastery of Alcobaça, the oldest around these parts and home to the tombs of some Portugal’s most legendary lovers. After that, you’ll make your way to Batalha where the Monastery of Batalha stands tall; a dazzling example of 14th century Late Flamboyant Gothic architecture. Come noon, you’ll reach Nazaré with its vibrant traditional fishing culture and wide beach boasting some of the biggest beach-breaking waves in all the world. Following lunch (not included), Óbidos awaits you – a medieval town near Lisbon which serves as a dreamy romantic getaway with its white village homes wrapped by well-preserved walls and castle. Finally return to Lisbon for an evening free to explore as desired. (Breakfast)
Day 4 Lisbon – Porto
To kick off your day, start with breakfast before embarking on a half-day guided city tour of Lisbon. You will explore the old town’s sloping alleys and spiraling staircases while observing locals’ favorite mode of transportation -the colorful streetcars. After the historic Alfama district, you will head towards Belém. There, you can explore Jerónimos Monastery, home to many prominent Portuguese figures, as well as the famous Tower of Belém and Monument of the Discoveries honoring pioneering Portuguese explorers. Then it is lunchtime before making your way to Porto for the rest of the afternoon at leisure discovering this captivating riverfront capital city.(Breakfast)
Day 5 Porto
Beginning at 9 in the morning, you’ll rendezvous with your guide for a half day experience of this unique city. Many have mentioned that there is a certain mysterious quality to it, which changes under different conditions such as location or even the time of day.
Your guide will take you on a journey through the city of Porto, beginning with the historic centre. Here you can explore the majestic Cathedral and be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the city, its bridges, cascading houses, and River Douro. Continue to wander through the Ribeira district; a treasure trove of tradition and culture. Afterwards head to some local wine cellars located in Porto for a memorable tasting experience. Throughout your tour stop off at notable landmarks such as the Stock Exchange building, Rua das Flores and São Bento train station where you can admire its walls adorned with tile (azulejos) panels illustrating various scenes from Portugal’s history. Lastly visit Four Lions Fountain facing the university which is surrounded by breathtaking churches covered in azulejos as well as one of the world’s most impressive bookstores – Livraria Lello built back in 1881.
Day 6 Porto – Douro Valley – Porto
Beginning the journey in Porto, you will be immersed in a stunning mix of nature and man-made attractions. The city is renowned around the world for its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation due to the important part it has played in industry. Experiencing the unique atmosphere of Douro Vinhateiro where olives, almonds and grapes grow abundantly will only add to your appreciation of this extraordinary region. After taking a traditional rabelo boat tour along an exquisite stretch of the Douro River, conclude your visit with a wine tasting at Quinta da Avessada – accompanied by a delectable lunch. Day 7 Porto – Fatima – Tomar – Lisbon
After the morning meal, you will make the journey south to Fatima, a holy site that has been drawing in believers since 1917 when the Mother of God appeared to three shepherdesses. Nowadays, it is known as ‘the Altar of Peace’ and millions come from around the world each year to pay their respects. You will then be taking a full-day tour (eight hours) to Tomar and Fatima – both cities are protected by UNESCO. Umberto Eco comments: “You can imagine one of the most iconic castles in Tomar”. Whilst there, you’ll visit the old Templar castle from XII century as well as the Monastery of Christ’s Order – an amazing spot boasting stunning Manuelino style architecture. Inside you’ll discover a grand window at its Capitol Hall which has become its very own identity symbol.
Free time for lunch and rest of the day at leisure to continue your exploration of Lisbon at your own pace. (Breakfast)
Day 8 Lisbon (Portugal) – Tenerife (Canary Islands)
In and around Tenerife
Start your journey to Tenerife with a hearty breakfast, followed by a warm welcome from our local representatives in the hotel lobby. From there, you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Tenerife. A warm welcome awaits you on your arrival in Puerta de la Cruz. You will then be taken to your hotel, where you will stay for the duration of your vacation on a half-board basis. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the facilities available at the hotel such as its pool, solarium, beauty salon, restaurant and bar. Additionally, it is an ideal opportunity to explore this attractive coastal town with its 17th century churches and traditional fishing port or visit Playa Jardin – a black sand beach with stunning panoramic views of Mount Teide volcano.
Day 9 Tenerife – Full-day guided tour
In the morning, you’ll find yourself only 300 meters away from the hotel to meet your guide departing toward Icod de los Vinos – one of Tenerife’s most esteemed wine areas. After that, a journey will ensue to an authentic village known as Garachico which features natural pools and quaint colonial houses. The next stop is Santiago with it’s iconic cliffs Los Gigantes rising 600 m above the Atlantic before moving on to Masca and Chio. Lastly, passing by the National Las Canadas del Teire before making your way back to the hotel in Puerto de la Cruz. (Breakfast-Dinner)
Day 10 Tenerife
Jump start your day in Puerto de la Cruz with a leisurely breakfast. Afterward, you have the opportunity to explore the island on your own or take an optional excursion at the tour desk of your hotel. (Breakfast-Dinner)
One of the most beautiful settings close to your hotel is Lagos de Martianez. This stunning complex offers visitors around 100,000 square meters composed of unique architectural elements such as sentry boxes, palisades and expansive views of the sea. What makes it truly special is that these pools are filled with water from the ocean due to reclaimed land surrounding them. It’s especially worth visiting for its breathtaking view of Teide volcano and luxurious swimming experience!
Day 11 Tenerife
After breakfast, you will find yourself with a day of rest and relaxation. Unwind at the hotel pool or take in the beauty of Playa Jardin by visiting its stunning beach. The tour desk of your hotel can provide an optional excursion for those who still seek adventure. (Breakfast-Dinner)
Day 12 Tenerife – Madrid
In and around Madrid
Start the day nourished with a delicious hotel-provided meal. After, take some time to relax before getting ready for your transfer to the airport for departure. On arrival in Madrid, transfer to your assigned accommodation and spend the rest of the day as desired. (Breakfast)
Day 13 Madrid
Start your morning off right by enjoying a meal in the hotel before transferring to the airport for your flight back to Madrid. Our local representatives will meet you in the lobby of the hotel after eating and proceed with taking you to the airport, allowing you plenty of time for your journey home. (Breakfast)
