Day 1 Cascais, Portugal – Tour Begins
Welcome to one of Portugal’s most special coastlines – the Portuguese Riviera! Here, you’ll spend three nights in a marvel of mansions around Cascais and Monte Estoril, which were once a refuge for European royalty. To celebrate your arrival, join your fellow travellers tonight for a delicious welcome dinner.
Day 2 Cascais – Lisbon – Cascais
Set off on a stunning sightseeing journey in Lisbon and explore its most famous attractions. Begin your tour at Belem, home of the iconic Belem Tower (UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Monument to the Discoveries. Next, dive into centuries-old history while visiting the 16th-century Jerónimos Monastery (UNESCO) and Lisbon’s Maritime Museum which showcases Portugal’s maritime legacy. Enjoy some free time wandering past quaint seaside cafés or browsing for lace, ceramics, and handmade items in local shops. To finish your day, you may join an optional Fado performance with to savor local cuisine and wine.
Day 3 Cascais – Obidos – Sintra – Cascais
The enchanting city of Obidos, with its white-washed houses that sit nestled within the ancient city walls, beckons you to come and take in its beauty. From there, make your way to Sintra (UNESCO), formerly a summer retreat for many Portuguese kings over six centuries. Now it’s up to you! You can choose to wander through the cobbled roads with their cork products and delicious pastries or you might opt to visit the National Palace of Sintra. On your return journey to Lisbon, don’t miss out on Cabo da Roca – the westernmost point of continental Europe – and savour this captivating view one last time.
Day 4 Cascais – Arraiolos – Evora
Take a journey through picturesque Portugal and discover the hidden gems of Arraiolos. First, explore the renowned “Museum City of Portugal” – Evora. Here you can find a 2nd-century Roman temple to Diana as well as the enigmatic 16th-century Chapel of Bones. Immerse yourself into the craftsmanship of Portuguese tapestries and traditional rugs at Arraiolos – aka “the village of carpets” – then delve into cork production at a local factory, which is essential to the Alentejo region’s economy and why Portugal is an international leader for this product! To top off your trip, delight your taste buds with some full-bodied wines on a winery tour and tasting.
Day 5 Evora – Monsaraz – Lagos
Take a voyage to the Algarve in Portugal, a coastal region of unsurpassable beauty. Before reaching your destination, experience the picturesque village of Monsaraz for its breathtaking vistas. Next, make your way to Lagos; an interesting mix of Moorish and Renaissance architecture amid majestic cliffs looming over the Atlantic Sea. This port city has been home to many renowned explorers who set out on their adventures from here. As you admire the fortress and other historic buildings, be sure to soak up the stunning views of the sea around them.
Day 6 Algarve – Faro – Tavira – Algarve
Those searching for a unique travel experience need look no further than Faro. This gateway to the picturesque Ria Formosa lagoon landscape is home to intriguing 9th-century city walls, as well as some of the best golden coastline around. Furthermore, a local chef will show you around the region’s gastronomy during a cooking demonstration and tasting menu – including some iconic dishes from Algarve and local liquors and pastries! Afterward, journey to Tavira – an ancient Moorish city with a special blend of traditional architecture, sandy beaches and modern atmosphere. End off your day with an evening at leisure back at your hotel.
Day 7 Algarve
People come from near and far to explore and enjoy all that Algarve has to offer. Its temperate weather, rolling hills, and breathtaking views make it a sought after destination for holidaymakers. Olives, figs, oranges, and almonds thrive in its climate while vivid fishing boats bob on its waters. Geraniums, camellias, and oleanders add splashes of color among these natural sights; a unique experience not found anywhere else in world.
Day 8 Algarve – Azeitao – Lisbon
During your journey to Lisbon, don’t forget to make a stop at Azeitao. This quaint and picturesque village is brimming with agricultural goodness; from the wealthy country Estates, to the Olive trees and Red wine for which it’s known! Enjoy an authentic experience by visiting a family-run shop, where you can learn about azulejos – Portugal’s renowned hand-painted tiles.
