Tour itinerary

Day 1 Lisbon, Portugal – Tour Begins
Begin the journey of a lifetime in Lisbon, a city steeped in Old World tradition. Here, explore cobbled passageways lined with pastel buildings and take part in local delicacies paired with regional wines. To kick off an incredible adventure, gather with like-minded travellers for a welcome dinner where folkloric entertainment will be performed.

Day 2 Lisbon – Belem – Lisbon
Embark on a journey of discovery to Lisbon and its UNESCO-listed treasures. Start your tour with Jeronimos Monastery, followed by the Monument to the Discoveries and Tower of Belem. With the remainder of the day stretching ahead, why not explore Praça do Comércio beside the Tagus River, or take a traditional tram ride to the Alfama district?

Day 3 Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon
Make your way to Sintra (UNESCO), the former summer palace of Portuguese monarchs, for a tour of the National Palace. Then take a trip to the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril on the Riviera. Whether you choose to return back to Lisbon or remain in Cascais or Estoril, ask your Tour Manager for details on how to get around locally. To end off the night, you will be treated to a cultural experience with traditional Fado (UNESCO) music and authentic Portuguese cuisine accompanied by local vintages.

Day 4 Lisbon – St. Michael, Azores – Ponta Delgada
Experience the beauty of the Azores and take a journey through St. Michael, the largest of nine volcanic islands that make up this archipelago. Start off by exploring Ponta Delgada’s town centre with a guided walking tour; admire the magnificent Portas da Cidade (the City Gates), Saint Christ’s Church, St. Sebastian Church, and the coastal promenade.

Day 5 Terra Nostra Botanical Park – Furnas Valley – Ponta Delgada
Why not try something new? Visit Terra Nostra Botanical Park, located in Furnas Valley, and take a dip in the thermal water pool.* Afterwards, treat yourself to a cozido das Furnas lunch, cooked with the heat of volcanic steam. Afterwards, explore a lush tea plantation and experience its unique methods of cultivation. After that, head to the pineapple plantation and enjoy tasting the sweet fruit right from the vine. Finish your day with a refreshing pineapple drink in hand – it’s up to you! The evening is yours to do as you please.

Day 6 Ponta Delgada
Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a leisurely day. You could opt for a whale-watching experience on a catamaran, guided by an expert biologist before treating yourself to lunch at one of Ponta Delgada’s local restaurants. And when the night draws in, join your friends for cocktails and dinner at one of the most acclaimed family-run restaurants in town. Whatever you choose to do during your stay, you’re sure to have a fantastic day!

Day 7 Sete Cidades – Ribeira Grande – Nordeste – Ponta Delgada
Just a short drive from Nordeste lies the unique Sete Cidades volcanic crater, with its two mesmerizingly coloured lakes – one blue and the other green. Please spend some time taking a relaxing walk around the crater before visiting Ribeira Grande, which is renowned for its classic buildings. Make sure to stop at a family-run liqueur shop to sample some of the regional spirits. To conclude your trip, climb up to the highest point of the island and explore Ribeira dos Caldeiroes’ breathtaking waterfalls.

Day 8 Ponta Delgada – Funchal, Madeira
Experience the “Pearl of the Atlantic” when you visit FunchalFly, located on Madeira Island. Take some time to explore the area and grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants before deciding how to start your day. Perhaps take a tour of Funchal by foot and see Rua de Santa Maria- lined with beautiful murals and colourful doors -or explore Madeira Botanical Garden where you can wander among more than 2,000 plants from all around the world. The rest of your day is yours so enjoy as you please!

Day 9 Funchal
Make today yours and do something special. Embark on a journey along one of Madeira’s** famously beautiful levadas, or take some time to appreciate all that your hotel has to offer. End this day with a delightful traditional espetada dinner. As you devour your meal, watch as pleasant folk dancers and jovial music transports you away from reality while it is being cooked over an open flame.

Day 10 Funchal – Monte – Câmara de Lobos – Porto Moniz – Funchal
Begin your journey with an excursion to Monte, a town situated atop the hills above Funchal. From there, travel on to Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque village that was once treasured by Sir Winston Churchill. He so admired the natural beauty of Madeira that he took up painting it as well! During your drive along mountain roads and past banana plantations and vineyards, you will reach the steep Cabo Girão – the world’s second-highest cliff. Continue onwards to Porto Moniz – a charming fishing community – and enjoy some free time for a swim (weather permitting) its unique volcanic pools before heading back towards Funchal.

Day 11 Funchal – Lisbon
Take to the skies and head back to vibrant Lisbon. Spend the rest of your day as you please before gathering for a farewell dinner to bid adieu to Portugal.

Day 12 Lisbon – Tour Ends
Today marks the end of your journey to Portugal, but its impact will stay with you as you make your return home.
