Day 1 Lisbon
When you arrive in Lisbon, your Tour Director will greet you and provide a transfer to your accommodation, where you’ll stay for the next three nights. After settling in, why not join your fellow guests for a refreshing welcome drink?
Day 2 Lisbon
Start your day with an exciting guided tour of Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. Make sure to take in Jeronimos Monastery and don’t miss out on sampling Pateis de Nata, a local favorite. Alternatively, head over to the Maritime Museum for a dose of nautical history covering Portugal’s days as one of the most powerful seafaring nations.
Day 3 Lisbon
Make sure to take the time to explore Lisbon and all that it has to offer. After spending some quality time here, your last night can be celebrated indulging in delicious Portuguese cuisine at your farewell dinner.
Day 4 Lisbon > Porto
Say goodbye to the vibrant city of Lisbon and set off on your journey to Porto. Step aboard the luxurious Scenic Azure river cruise, ready to explore the picturesque Douro Valley.
Day 5 Porto > Regua
Revel in the experience of a lifetime as you take part in on board activities such as traditional tile painting while navigating your way to Regua. You will have plenty of opportunity to explore the Douro Museum, offering insight into the culture, history and identity of the locals who live in this wine-growing region of the Douro Valley. Unwind and relax as your luxurious Scenic Space-Ship meanders along its course – an unforgettable journey awaits!
Day 6 Regua > Vega de Terron
You have a number of choices for exploring Lamego, the elegant town renowned for its many Baroque structures like the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios and the Lamego Museum. Take a guided tour of Mateus Palace, an iconic historic structure which provided inspiration for Portugal’s famous Mateus rosé wine label. For something more active, opt to go kayaking down the Pinhão River. Or, spend the afternoon cruising through Vinhateiro, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its 2 millennia-old winemaking tradition as you move on towards Spain.
Day 7 Vega de Terron
Experience architecture and cultural history with a trip to Salamanca in Spain. Surrounded by beautiful monuments and buildings, this city is an underrated wonder that will stay with you for years to come. Or alternatively, why not visit the Portuguese village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta? There, you can take part in a guided tour and have the chance to explore their silk museum – it’s one of the few places left where handcrafted silk is still made entirely by hand!
Day 8 Pocinho > Pinhão
Visitors to Pocinho have the opportunity to explore the Côa Valley Museum, a much-acclaimed attraction. Participants can take part a pre-historic workshop here, and learn about the area’s rich history.
Day 9 Pinhão > Porto
Head to Provesende for an unforgettable insight into traditional Portugal. Explore the atmospheric streets with local guides and immerse yourself in their unique way of life, a memorable experience only available to Scenic guests. Marvel at the majestic São Francisco Church – its exterior combining Gothic and Baroque architecture while its interior is adorned with wood carvings coated in gold. As a special treat, enjoy a private concert amongst these stunning surroundings.
Day 10 Porto
Explore the captivating city of Porto, home to many ancient artefacts. Tour the iconic Palacio da Bolsa, an impressive building that began its construction in 1842 and concluded after more than 65 years. Visiting Guimarães is also a must; here you can join a guided tour of the Ducal Palace, an awe-inspiring site from medieval times or take part in a tasting at Quinta da Aveleda. Located in the renowned Vino Verde region and famed for its regional sparkling wines, be sure to stroll through their spectacular gardens during your excursion.
Day 11 Porto
Following your morning meal, journey to Porto airport for your departing or returning flight. Bring with you marvelous recollections that will last a lifetime. This suggested route is just a suggestion and could be changed due to factors such as water level variations. Therefore, the cruise may take an alternative course from the one outlined above.
