Tour itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Lisbon
Greetings and a warm welcome to Portugal! After your arrival in Lisbon, you’ll be taken directly to your hotel so you can settle in.
Day 2 Lisbon
Kick off your exploration of Lisbon by hopping aboard the city’s classic tramcars and exploring the Old Town. Don’t miss out on a visit Jerónimos Monastery, declared a World Heritage Site, which was constructed in 1502 by King Manuel I to commemorate Vasco da Gama’s journey to India. Later, convene with your fellow travellers for an enjoyable welcome dinner.
Day 3 Lisbon, Sintra
Prepare to be surprised the moment you lay eyes on Serra de Sintra – surrounded by picturesque mountain tops in every direction. Don’t forget to check out King Ferdinand II’s incredible Park and Palace of Pena while you’re here! After that, take some free time and take in all that Sintra has to offer. Grab some lunch when it’s convenient for you, before making your way back to Lisbon via a scenic coastal route. To bid farewell to your trip, why not savor some local cuisine at one of the restaurants near your hotel?
Day 4 Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Embark Ship
Embrace Portugal’s beauty by travelling through its countryside and then exploring the historic city of Coimbra, where the nation’s most esteemed university is located. Take in the sights before enjoying a leisurely lunch. Afterwards, journey to Porto and board your river boat. As you settle in for an evening meal, you’ll soon set off on a brilliant cruise around Porto with your ship providing the perfect spot to take it all in.
Day 5 Porto
Today is the chance to do what strikes your fancy the most.
Day 6 Porto, Guimarães, Entre-Os-Rios
We have an interesting journey lined up for you today to the historical city of Guimarães. You will be able to witness first-hand the development of medieval settlements with a guided tour. Cruise through scenic Douro Valley and arrive to Entre-Os-Rios where you can explore the Quinta da Avelada, a family business that has been making wine in the region since 1870s. Take some time to wander through their gardens, and cap off the day with a sampling of delicious local wines and cheese.
Day 7 Régua
As you make your way to Régua this morning, be sure to take in the beautiful sunshine. Upon arriving at your destination, why not explore the Douro Museum which is a great source of knowledge into the fascinating culture of the renowned Douro Valley wine region.
Day 8 Regua, Pinhão
Once the morning activities have been completed, relax and take in the sights as you continue your journey towards Pinhão.
Day 9 Pinhão
A visit to the majestic Palacio de Mateus is an unforgettable experience near Vila Real in Portugal. This impressive palace was built in the 18th century by renowned architect Nicolau Nasoni, and it many people recognize it from the popular Mateus Rosé wine label. Your trip will culminate with a fantastic captain’s farewell dinner.
Day 10 Barca d’Alva
Your tour of the historic town of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo will conclude with a visit to its castle ruins. After your exploration, you can return to the board and enjoy an exquisite dinner. As you spend your last night here, images of Spain linger in your mind.
Day 11 Barca d’Alva, Disembark Ship, Salamanca, Madrid
From Barca d’Alva, say farewell to life on the waves and take off for a tour of Salamanca – an ancient city. Here, you’ll marvel at the University of Salamanca and be enchanted by the House of Shells. Then it’s time to proceed to Madrid where your accommodation awaits. Once there, use the evening as you wish!
Day 12 Madrid
Take advantage of the opportunity to discover Madrid and its culture before sitting down for dinner at one of the city’s restaurants.
Day 13 Madrid, Marseille, Arles, Embark Ship
Once you have said your goodbyes to Spain, take a trip to the beautiful city of Marseille in France.
Day 14 Arles, Avignon
Start your day by journeying to the city of Arles, famous for its beautiful buildings that were an inspiration to the great artist Van Gogh. As you make your way towards Avignon afterwards, there are many sightseeing opportunities awaiting you.

Day 16 Vienne, Lyon
This morning, why not pick a sightseeing event tailored just for you? As the day winds down, your vessel sets sail for Lyon. On arrival in this beautiful city, take part in an orientation tour and learn all about its mysteries.
