Following the cities of Lisbon and Porto, delight in Portugal’s vineyards that sit along the banks of the Douro River. Cross over to Spain and cruise through Basque Country leading to Bordeaux’s celebrated rivers, known for its renowned wines and no introduction required. A trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the esteemed châteaux of Loire Valley.

 


 

Tour itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Lisbon
After touching down in Lisbon, your accommodation has been arranged for you. Kick off your stay with a warm welcome reception this evening. Unpack and get comfortable as you settle into your hotel room.

Day 2 Lisbon
Begin your exploration of Lisbon by taking a ride on one of the city’s iconic tramcars. Make sure you explore the cobbled streets and quaint architecture of Old Town before heading off to visit Jerónimos Monastery, a sight listed as World Heritage and which commemorates Vasco da Gama’s journey to India.

Day 3 Lisbon, Sintra
Head to the majestic Park and Palace of Pena, a stunning complex crafted by King Ferdinand II. Afterwards, take in the sights of Sintra at your own pace before taking the coastal route back to Lisbon.

Day 4 Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Embark Ship
Begin your adventure by travelling to Coimbra and then heading up to the charming city of Porto.

Day 5 Porto
Today is the chance to do what strikes your fancy the most.

Day 6 Porto, Guimarães, Entre-Os-Rios
Why not start your day with an adventure to the ancient city of Guimarães? Afterwards, you can go for a pleasant cruise through the stunning Douro Valley up until Entre-Os-Rios. While there, be sure to explore Quinta da Aveleda, which has quite a history of producing wine since the 19th century.

Day 7 Régua
As the sun rises over Régua, take the opportunity to savor the stunning scenery of the local area. Once you arrive, make your way to the acclaimed Douro Museum for an in-depth look at the culture and history of wine production in the Douro Valley.

Day 8 Régua, Pinhão
After your morning activity, continue cruising to Pinhão.

Day 9 Pinhão
For a one-of-a-kind experience, venture to the magnificent Palacio de Mateus near Vila Real. This stunning structure is widely known due to its inclusion on the labels of Mateus Rosé wine bottles.

Day 10 Barca d’Alva
Your stay in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo is not complete until you make a stop at the castle ruins. Spend your last night aboard your ship by having a scrumptious dinner before returning home.

Day 11 Barca d’Alva, Disembark Ship, Salamanca, Burgos, Bilbao
Head to Basque Country via Salamanca and take a trip to Burgos before settling in Bilbao. Situated on the Bay of Biscay, this is an area of breathtaking beauty that you won’t want to miss out on.

Day 12 Bilbao
Join a local guide for a tour of Bilbao, followed by a walk through the Old Town, with a visit to the Guggenheim Museum.

Day 13 Bilbao, San Sebastián, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bordeaux, Embark Ship
On the way to Bordeaux, take a journey along the stunning coastline and linger in San Sebastián and Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

Day 14 Bordeaux, Libourne, Saint-Émilion
Start your day off in a unique way and take a morning cruise along the waters of Saint-Émilion.

Day 15 Libourne, Blaye
Choose your activity in Libourne. This afternoon, cruise to Blaye.

Day 16 Blaye, Bourg
A must-see destination, Blaye offers visitors the chance to explore its historic 17th-century citadel. Take a leisurely stroll and don’t forget to descend into its subterranean passages.

Day 17 Bourg, Pauillac
The vineyards of Aquitaine are on display as you cruise into Pauillac. Disembark your ship and journey through the Médoc wine region.

Day 18 Pauillac, Cadillac
It’s up to you how your day unfolds thanks to our selection of experiences.

Day 19 Bordeaux
Tonight will be the perfect way to end your stay in Bordeaux – a captain’s farewell dinner. But don’t let that be the only experience you take away from your visit!

Day 20 Disembark Ship, Bordeaux, Tours, Vouvray
From the railway station, hop on a high-speed train that will take you to Tours. Enjoy some free time for lunch upon arrival and then get ready to explore the city with an experienced local guide. After that, don’t miss your chance of visiting Vouvray and having a delightful tasting session at its winery. Finally, make your way back to your Loire Valley château for two amazing nights!

Day 21 Tours, Loire Valley
Come explore some of the stunning castles of the Loire Valley. Château de Chenonceau, adorned with a historic art collection, will be your first stop. Then marvel at the French Renaissance style of Château de Chambord, the largest châteaux in the valley and one imagined by King Francis I himself! Step back half a millennium while discovering centuries-old French history. Afterward, enjoy your Signature Experience for an unforgettable day.

Day 22 Tours, Versailles
A journey to the Palace of Versailles will uncover the grandeur that was accomplished during Louis XIV’s alteration of this 17th century relic. By the 19th century, it had been converted into a museum and now awaits your arrival to partake in its Signature Experience.

Day 23 Versailles, Depart Paris
