Tour itinerary
Day 1 Lisbon
As soon as you land in Lisbon, a team of friendly local representatives will be waiting for you when you come out of customs. From there, they will take care of getting you to your hotel in the capital city so that you can begin your adventure into Portugal. The remainder of the day is yours to explore!
Day 2 Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon
Set out on a day trip from Lisbon and depar tfor Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. You will pass many ancient aristocratic estates and villages en route to Sintra, where stood the royal residence during medieval times. Admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site Quinta da Regaleira palace with its unique mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline styles. Take some free time for lunch in this picturesque city before heading to the Devil’s Mouth cave and Guincho Beach. Enjoy a stroll in Cascais fishing town before visiting Estoril which was home to several noble families fleeing Nazi persecution during WWII. Head back to Lisbon in the evening after a full day exploring outside (Breakfast).
Day 3 Lisbon – Alcobaça – Batalha – Nazaré – Óbidos – Lisbon
Beginning your journey in Lisbon, you will make your way to Alcobaça and discover the oldest monastery in the region. It is here that you can find the tombs of Portugal’s most famous lovers. Then, you will travel to the Monastery of Batalha, one of the best examples of Late Flamboyant Gothic architecture, which was built in 14th century. By noon, you arrive at Nazaré with its colorful fishing traditions and long half-moon shaped beach. This stretch of sand is renowned for having some of the world’s largest breaking waves. Afterwards, enjoy lunch (not included) before heading off to Óbidos – a medieval town close to Lisbon known as a romantic getaway spot due to its well-preserved castle and handicraft shops within walls that line white houses. Afterward, return to Lisbon for an evening free from activities.(Breakfast)
Day 4 Lisbon – Porto
At the start of your day, enjoy a delicious breakfast before beginning your half-day guided city tour of Lisbon. With its narrow alleys and winding staircases, life in the old town is brought to life by the sound of streetcars – one of the local’s favorite modes of transport. After taking in everything that Alfama district has to offer, you will stop off at Belém to explore Jerónimos Monastery – once a burial site for several famous faces in Portuguese history. It’s also home to Tower of Belém – built during 16th century as an entryway along the coast – and Monumento dos Descobrimentos which stands as a tribute to Portuguese navigators who paved the way. Once lunchtime arrives, you’ll head off towards Porto and have free time left over for yourself to uncover this stunningly situated northern capital of Portugal.(Breakfast)
Day 5 Porto
In the morning, right around 9 o’clock, you will have the opportunity to explore this incredible city in a guided tour. A lot of travelers agree that this destination has something indescribable and ever-changing depending on where you are and what time of day it is.
Beginning in the city’s historic heart, you will follow your guide to admire the grandiose Cathedral that offers breath-taking views of Porto and its River Douro. You will then explore some of its most picturesque districts like Ribeira before heading to the Porto Wine Cellars for a tasting session. Furthermore, on passing by notable landmarks such as the Stock Exchange building and Rua das Flores, you will come upon São Bento train station with its remarkable azulejos line atrium. To top it off, your tour will culminate at Four Lions fountain in front of Portugal’s prestigious university where you can marvel at fascinating churches decorated with azulejos and Livraria Lello – an exquisite bookstore dating back to 1881. Breakfast included! Enjoy your free afternoon afterwards to further immerse yourself in this beautiful city.
Day 6 Porto – Douro Valley – Porto
Beginning in the historic city of Porto, where the Douro River meets the sea and Douro wines originate, you can explore both its natural and man-made splendor as well as industrial heritage deserving of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Douro Vinhateiro is an ideal climate for growing olives, almonds and grapes. Next, enjoy a scenic hour-long rabelo boat tour on the river before stopping at Quinta da Avessada to taste some exquisite vino and savor a succulent lunch (Breakfast-Lunch).
Day 7 Porto – Fatima – Tomar – Lisbon
After a nourishing breakfast, you will take a day trip (lasting 8 hours) to two picturesque destinations: Tomar and Fatima. The ancient residence of the Templars -Tomar- is guarded by UNESCO. It boasts one of the most emblematic castles imaginable according to Umberto Eco and is full of Manuelino style charm that can be seen in its famous ex-libris window in the Capitol Hall of the Monastery. Meanwhile, Fatima has become known as an altar for peace since 1917 when Mother Mary appeared to three shepherdesses there. Nowadays, millions from all over come annually to pay their respects at this centre of Catholic pilgrimage.
Free time for lunch and rest of the day at leisure to continue your exploration of Lisbon at your own pace. (Breakfast)
Day 8 Lisbon – Madeira
Following your morning meal, you will be transferred from the hotel to the airport for a journey to Madeira. Once you arrive at the airfield in Madeira, you will be brought to your chosen accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to spend as desired. (Breakfast)
Day 9-11 Madeira
Don’t miss out on an unforgettable breakfast during your stay. Make the most of your time and explore the spectacular island of Madeira. Nestled in the Atlantic Ocean, this beautiful destination is renowned for its picturesque vistas and astonishing natural attractions. A great way to make your destination even more memorable is to book one of the optional excursions ($) they offer; for instance, you could go whale and dolphin watching in their natural habitat or take a tour of some amazing places such as Pico dos Barcelos, Eira do Serrado, Porto Moniz and many others!
Day 12 Madeira – Lisbon
Once you have finished your morning meal, transportation will be provided from the hotel to the airport so that you can catch your flight to Lisbon.
When you reach the destination, transport will be ready and waiting for you at the aerodrome – ready to take you from there straight to your accommodation.
Day 13 Lisbon
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport. (Breakfast)
