Tour itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to Portugal
Meet and Greet at Lisbon Airport and Transfer to Evora, the jewel of Alentejo, where you will be accommodated for 2 nights in a 4* Hotel with breakfast.
Bordered by the River Tejo and the northern mountain ranges of the Algarve, Alentejo is a vast region covering almost a third of Portugal. Its name literally translates to “beyond the Tejo” and one can find a range of attractions ranging from cork plantations, wheat fields and vineyards to ruins, castles and whitewashed villages. Some of its most notable features are Evora and Elvas – two UNESCO towns – boasting baroque bell towers, temples and mighty fortresses as well as smaller atmospheric towns with winding cobbled streets.

Day 2 Feel the City and wine tour
In the morning after breakfast, Guided Tour of Evora followed by a Lunch in one of the most iconic wineries of Alentejo.
After a hearty morning meal, the guided tour of Evora commenced, culminating with lunch at one of Alentejo’s most renowned vineyards. This ancient place is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its two thousand years worth of history that spans from Roman to Neoclassical times.
The iconic Praça do Giraldo is the heart of Évora and features landmarks such as the St. Antonio Church built during 16th century and Henriquina Fountain. Tourists must also visit Capela dos Ossos or The Chapel of Bones, which is lined with about 5 thousand skulls and bones created by Franciscan monks. Last but not least, the magnificently vast Évora Cathedral is an unmissable experience for those visiting this Portuguese city.
At lunchtime, go to a restaurant of your choice and enjoy the local gastronomy.
You will then visit one of the most famous wineries in the Alentejo, including a visit and wine tasting.
At the end, a transfer will take you back to your hotel.

Day 3 Lisbon and Pastel de Nata Cooking class
In the morning, check-out and transfer to Lisbon with Half day tour of the city.
Lisbon, europe’s second oldest capital, is an effortlessly elegant city, full of old-world charm.
A unique experience awaits you after breakfast – a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Évora, with its 2000 years of history across various civilisations. From the Phoenicians to the Portuguese, explore this ‘museum city’ and visit St Jorge’s Castle to observe Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter. Of course, no trip would be complete without a stroll through the traditional commerce zones with their 18th-century buildings or a peek at Baixa and Chiado neighbourhoods. And it all wraps up with Lunch at one of Alentejo’s most iconic wineries.
Follow you will learn the preparation of Custards “Pastéis de Nata” (Traditional Portuguese Sweet – Custards) Cooking Class ( not available on Sundays and bank holidays).

Day 4 Sintra Tour and Fado Dinner and Show
In the morning after breakfast, Guided Tour to Sintra and Cascais.
Wander through the ‘museum city’ of Évora, with its 2000-year history and explore Sintra with its beautiful chalets and aristocratic residences. Begin your day here with a Guided Tour of Évora before stopping at one of Alentejo’s most iconic wineries for lunch. Then wander around the city center to find old houses converted into quaint handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops. Don’t miss out on visiting the 19th-century Pena Palace – an amazing combination of architectural styles, colors and shapes!
For lunch time, Cascais is a coastal town, once a small fishing village, that became popular with artists and writers thanks to its idyllic scenery.

Transfer back to your hotel in Lisbon.

Dinner with Fado Show.
After a nourishing breakfast, you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Évora. Spanning some 2000 years from Roman to Neoclassical through Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras, it is considered the “museum city” by many. Later on, a visit to one of Alentejo’s most iconic wineries for lunch follows. To further connect with the Portuguese culture, you are invited to Lisbon’s most emblematic fado locales for dinner and an unforgettable show that evening. Fado has been at the heart of Portugal’s history since early 19th century as it expresses emotion felt by its people: longing and loss. By understanding this form of traditional music, you open up your eyes to an integral part of Portugal’s history.

Day 5 Medieval Obidos, Nazaré waves and fish, Tomar and the Templars,
After breakfast, tour to Obidos, Nazaré and Tomar.
Obidos is considered as one of the most charming and picturesque towns of central Portugal. Within the town are traditionally painted houses, narrow cobbled streets, and an imposing castle.

After an enjoyable morning breakfast, a Guided Tour of Évora awaits; the UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting 2000 years of history from Roman to Neo-Classical and everything between. Traveling West to Nazaré, we take a lunch break whilst gazing at the magnificent cliffs, inhaling the scent of grilled fish – indicative that we are now located within a fishing village! Popular with tourists and surfers alike, Nazaré is renowned for being home to the biggest wave ever surfed by Garrett McNamara back 2011; an impressive 24m (79ft)!

Following breakfast, the day began with a guided tour of Évora – a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its 2000 years of history. Catch glimpses of Roman to Neoclassical and everything between – Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture – as you explore. Then it’s off to Tomar, another iconic Portuguese city with a wealth of historical importance. Behold the Templar Castle and Christ Convent; former national headquarters for the Templar Knights during medieval times plus take time to visit the Jewish quarter along with its 15th century synagogue. Finally, end off your day by enjoying lunch at one of Alentejo’s finest wineries.

Transfer back to your hotel in Lisbon.

Day 6 Fatima Pilgrims and Coimbra Students
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Porto.
On the way towards Porto visit to Fatima and Coimbra.
Famous across the globe, Fatima is a sacred Catholic shrine devoted to the Virgin Mary. The Shrine’s fame was earned through the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary which manifested to three young shepherds. These miraculous sightings were capped off with an astounding event known as “the day the sun danced,” witnessed by an incredible 60,000 individuals.
Heading to Coimbra for lunch, you’ll find some of Portugal’s finest cuisine. The city is also home to the world-renowned University of Coimbra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the old Moorish town that witnessed the creation of the Portuguese nation and take in sights like the Old Cathedral. There you can hear students singing traditional ‘Coimbra ballads’ as you pass by.

Day 7 Porto Feel the city
After breakfast, Highlights Tour of Porto with Port wine tasting.
Perched atop a steep riverbank along the placid Douro River, Porto – the second largest city in all of Europe – is an enchanting destination. Introducing visitors to its history and culture, this tour showcases this vibrant city’s beautiful monuments, including richly adorned Baroque churches, soaring bell towers and grand Beaux-Arts structures. All nestled amongst a maze of brightly decorated medieval houses, one can explore the captivating town of Porto in all its glory.
Visit landmarks such as the Stock Exchange Palace, the Church of Saint Francis, the Cathedral and Lello Bookstore in the historic Ribera district.
Finishing this tour with a visit to the Port Wine Cellars with wine tasting.

Day 8 Douro Valley
In the morning, after breakfast Tour to Douro Valley.
Embark on an unforgettable journey with us to discover the wonders of the Douro wine region. Long ago, wooden barrels full of the local wine were conveyed by boat or train to Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia for storing in cellars. You will relish a delightful lunch whilst taking in spectacular views over the river – just like sitting inside a vintage rail wagon! Finally, you can toast with one of the finest wines on earth from one of the most prestigious balconies along this stunning landscape. Immerse yourself completely in this captivating tour that chronicles some fascinating tales about authentic Douro wines.
